Markus, I realise that this is a long overdue response to your question but haven't been on for quite a while. Essentially, the only relationship between the 808 State show and the Mix Factory show is that they were both on Manchester's Sunset 102 FM (..."the kickin' FM!"). 808 was on Tues...

No problem Markus. Happy to help! I loved the show back in the day and listened every Tuesday night from the age of 13 - 15!!!!

... just realised it's actually Ultra V (i.e. the number 5 as a Roman numeral).

Just ran a google search for Ultra V - Pure and it's out there!

Markus, the tune in question is Ultra 5 - Pure.

I think it came out around this time; early 1993. I remember my friend buying it from Beat Street Records in Bolton!

Killer tune! I may be wrong, but I'm sure I remember it coming from Australia!

Can you identify?..

On one of the 1990 808 Sunset shows (I can't find which one now!), there is a tune that Andy and Daz used to play quite a lot. It has a female almost talking the lyrics where she always starts with "I believe"... she says for e.g. "I believe in the sixth sense"...."I believe...

Hi Ian, I used to tape them all mate. Sunset ended sometime around August-September '93 I think. I distinctly member them trying to broadcast using coat hangers! Tuesdays were legendary...late for school every Wednesday morning. haha. Anyone remember the live shouts that shot Live Wire to fame?? He ...

Yeah Matt Thompson was quality. Loved his show. Used to go to his 'Prescription' night at 'The Phoenix' regularly. He played some really eclectic stuff in his sets and on the air! Yeah, Daz and Andy used to take the p*ss out of him on a Friday night as his show was about to start and their's was fin...

Loved the Mix Factory, one of whom was XTC (Marc McKinley) of course as well as Higgy, Dave Pullen etc. Ended up in at a night in Joshua Brookes in Manchester a few weeks back where they started playing old skool... they played 'Burning like Fire' by the Mix Factory!! Memories galore!

By the way, I remember there were loads of great shows in '93. As I recall, the guys were touring the States and Asia for a while and Dr D filled in for them. When they returned, they had loads of new tunage which was quality! I distinctly remember some of the Summer '93 shows where they played a re...
