Outpost Transmission Review - Front Magazine (Issue 50)

808 STATE Outpost Transmission (Circus) A problem with dance music is naming tracks. What do you call a record that goes, ‘Beep, bur-blum-blum, weedly-weedly-wee… beep raaa’? The tracklist when we went to press included Fat German, Chopsumwong, and Roundbum Mary – difficult single to market. It doe...

Just ain't gonna happen!

I was trying extremely hard to get out of going to a family wedding and take a quick trip over. But their DJ has let them down, meaning I'm no longer a guest at the wedding, I'm being forced to work now. Hope its a good one?, have a couple for me Pete, and try to avoid strange people holding onto ch...

808 Logo for mobiles

Why bother Pete, I just went out and got myself a new Sony Ericsson T68i and now have colour pictures of 808 at castlefield on view at all times! Need to sort out the ringtone though, it'll have to be cubik, pacific or dare I say maybe even Ancodia.

Outpost Transmission

Outpost Transmission is a great album purely due to the fact that it includes 606, an absolute stormer of a track. I would quite like to hear 606 remixed by AlpineStars and giving it a flavour of Snow Patrol. It would become a great bounding dance floor stormer, guaranteed to put 808 back in the lim...

According to a mate of mine who is a huge Tenaglia fan, the edit/mix was originally only made for his personal use. A few copies have made it to Tenaglia's mates but no formal release promo or otherwise has been made, and is not planned. And I was really looking forward to that too! D'oh! <font size...

After hearing Homelife live in Manchester twice I bought 'Flying Wonders' when I returned to Belfast. I instantly like around 3 of the tracks but I think the rest will definately grow on me. I also picked up the latest AlpineStars album after hearing them live before 808 at Castlefield.

Have you tried other CDR/CDRW in the CD players, most players over two or so years old don't reliably play CDR and most will never play CDRW. 80min CDRs work fine in all players that I have played 74s in.

Indeed a bit shout out to all at the event Markus, Nick, Pete, Carlos and new forum member Scruffy Penis. Still a bit dazed by the whole event, three fun packed days of 808 State has just overwhelmed me. I'll post a bit of a report later but just thought I'd let you know I took around 200+ photos ra...

Considering that most people actually discovered 808 on the back of Pacific the organic sound featuring live instruments is an obvious return to those early days of 808. They just have better equipement and more time to experiment. All the tracks on Don Solaris have there own particular place, from ...

I was planning to stay out of this whole argument, but - Don Solaris is 808 State's best album to date. It is full of experimentation with live instruments (saxaphone doodling??) giving a more organic feel to the overall sound. 808 and especially Graham even experimented with alternative scales to g...
