Big '808' logos in the ringed typeface a la Quadrastate are the way forward! (with maybe 'thepsychoecstatictrancenducinggrooveridingtechnofunkalogicalsoundof808state' in tiny print across the top of the back!) my biggest concern is the type of t-shirt used (i the 'cut' and colour)...the Fruit of the...

Also in response to Ski family: "i like some emotion so i will never have support for acid-based stuff like that. My sort of 808 tracks are Pacific, Olympic, Sunrise etc...." Depends what you mean by 'emotion' - just because tracks are more 'musical' with flutes, sax and ethereal strings/pads, doesn...

me too! I've still got a scratchy copy, but it cuts off too soon... Wicked scratching on Cubik, and who was 'compereing'? Sounds like Graham!

Favourite albums of 2002?

Ok, I know many of you will say 'Outpost Transmission' is the best (although not sure it counts since it came so late!) but what are everyones fave tracks and LPs for 2002? I recently got round to buying Royksopp's 'Melody AM' having been aware of several of the tracks for some time, and was blown a...

Gotta disagree there! Suntower is easily the best track on the album, in fact I would go so far as saying it's one of my all time 808 faves. It really epitomises 808 at it's maverick best, breaking the rules and creating a fresh sounding, futuristic atmosphere without the usual ambient-tech cliches....

Homelife on Radio 1 - Gilles Peterson

Was just flicking through Gilles Peterson's excellent 'Worldwide' show on Radio1's site, and saw a 'Homelife In Session' section with mentions of Graham, and four 'in session' tracks recorded in July at Maida Vale.

Tunes DJing @ Code in Birmingham

Found this on 'Burn it Blue' http://www.burntblue.com/news/news.asp?News=2902 MADCHESTER GOES TO THE MIDLANDS If you're fed up with superstar DJ poseurs and like the idea of an unpretentious rollicking good laugh on a Monday night, look no further. 16 B is a very talented producer - not your bog-standard deep house shit - there's always a groovier vibe, with some really interesting drum patterns and melodies. Fans of Pacific will love this guy's stuff. I've bought some of his 'Changing Shape' trax on Airtight (a 'house/breaks' subsidiary of Ho...

By the sounds of your tastes, i'd say '90' is going to be your best choice. Most fans will agree that 90 is actually a better-produced and more coherent album than Newbuild. The maverick 'techno' ethos of Newbuild is still there, but 808 had just signed to ZTT and had aquired/had access to a pile of...

Nice review of O/T in Muzik Mag!

Just picked up Muzik mag in Smiths today, which includes the following review by Duncan Bell: "After spending a period out of fashion comparable to that of deely boppers, 'Outpost Transmission' should remind many of how great 808 State once were, and could be again. Too mature to get big-fish and li...
