Yeah I think SMD are underrated when it comes to the music they make (as opposed to their production) as they hang around with the indie crowd. Meeting one of them (James Ford? I can't remember the name of the one at Wang!) was really cool. And for another (vague) 808 link, their mix of Bjork's 'Inn...

I think the Quadrastate tracks were orginally planned for a Peel Session, although I haven't heard about them doing any 'proper' Peel Sessions.

Wow Yellow Orange is nice, same vein as 808 tracks like Booth and (the opening bit of) Long Orange in terms of the chords. I like the bass, the song has a nice full sound. The strange vocoder-y voice further in is quite cool too.

Good stuff :D

lol!! Some good pics there actually, it was really good. The Tenori-On was amazing, wasn't that what he was doing the free performance for in Manchester? Proper modern acid music! :)

Whoa that was something else. :D If there's a setlist, is there any recording from the event? Since it was totally improvised (like Newbuild) a recording would almost be like an update to that album, which is pretty cool. My mum has been saying how much she enjoyed it!! I was surprised how contempor...

I thought both tunes sampled (or at least copied) the bleeps from 'Testone' by Sweet Exorcist. The KLF always had more of a novelty factor than 808 State. Still I always wondered why the 'Lift' video mentioned the KLF...it could be some house music reference (LFO mention them in the intro of their a...

808state.com is one of the most satisfying band websites on the 'net. How many free downloads is that now??? Exactly. It helps 808 State are a great band though :)

Cheers Markus, Nickking et al.

Damn right, this is one of those dream remix projects, like when Autechre did Unique 3's 'The Theme' recently. The fact that Hot Chip (who command quite a decent following in the more mainstream indie crowd, where all my mates are at) are working on it makes me feel this is very likely to appear on ...

globalstate-the label...?

Yo, I noticed (I think after reading the 808 State chart entry attempt thread) that the likes of Spooky have made their music available on their own label, named after their website. If Spooky can do this, surely 808 State, who were once probably the biggest selling British techno group, can. It wou...

I always thought 808080808 was an underrated tune, the chords are simply euphoric.

That said is Extended Pleasures of Dance a better candidate for a publicity drive? Multiple chart placings...we could have every 808 State single in the charts! :D

It certainly would be hard, but if a story of the 808 State fan base trying to push a track into the charts broke out it would be pretty cool, I guess theoretically such an attempt would garner some attention if it was on a big enough scale. Oh, and Pacific at No. 1 in 2008 (August naturally) would ...

Indeed, I was gawping when I first saw this. It's The Beat is one of my singles of the year (alongside D.A.N.C.E. by Justice and Pogo by Digitalism) and Andy Weatherall is something of a legend. But I digress. Gerald and Graham playing together again???? Surely something of a blessing for the 808 ma...

Its a good thing it isn't being rushed, a good mastering job can make old music sound divine. Like someone said in an old post about Pacific State on the Hacienda classics comp, which sounds ace. I have Quadrastate on vinyl, but not the Let Yourself Go 12'' and the (secret :) ) bonus tracks are gett...

if you go to SHADES OF RHYTHM's myspace page, they mention that all their back catalogue is coming out on Finger Licking Records (as they are now under the name of Drumattic Twins and have many releases on their label) hehe shut me up! :P now i guess ZTT really have NO reason not to put everything ...
