Two Fat Ladies and a Duck - QUACK (!)

Post by xzip2 » 11 Aug 2005 14:46

:P:P:P:P:P Hi all,

I am pretty excited at the moment because in my hands I have two one sided 12" acetates from Two Fat Ladies and a Duck. The title of the song is called ..... Quack.

The song sounds like a Joyrider remix but the problem is I cannot verify that because I do not have the PROTFL01 vinyl. So I do not know if it actually is the "Joyrider - Sure Is Pure Remix" or a different song / mix.
The track starts with a repeating slipping car sample accompanied by a beat. Can someone confirm this?

So if my acetates are "Joyrider - Sure Is Pure" then I suppose the title of the song was originally intended to be "Quack". And if I remember correctly there was no song title printed on the label of the PROTFL01 version.

Further there is WEA written on it, and in that period ZTT was part of Warner. So this a good indication how close ZTT was to release that song. Does anyone know why that never happened?

Further info: One acetate is from Masterpiece and one from Masterroom, no matrix numbers, 33.3 rpm, both acetates play the same versions.

Cheers,

Henry

You're a pretty lucky guy! How on earth did you manage to track those down? Yup, that's the same intro. If you time the record and it's 10:58, you can be sure it's the same :) Don't play it too often though, not good for acetates. If you could scan the label, that would be great. There's a photo of the promo somewhere on this site or on the forum, but can't remember where now.

That's the original promo, not the acetate, though...

Must only be a handful of copies of the acetate? :D

Markus, thanx for your confirmation.

I bought both acetates on Ebay two weeks ago for a fiver each :D. So yes, I am a lucky guy! I do not have the possibilty to make a scan at the moment, but when you click the URL's below you can find pictures of the acetates.

Does anybody know the story why it was not released under 808 State's own name?

Cheers,

Henry
