Graham Massey - American yet fun?

Post by markus »

Sometime last year, when visiting a neighbouring country, I was browsing the Easy Listening / Strange Music vinyl section (don't ask...) in a record shop when my eye caught an orange sticker with Carl Craig's name on it. I took a closer look as the artist (Bruno Spoerri) sounded familar and Carl's review was "I love this record!". Then the next thing I noticed was GRAHAM MASSEY's name on the sticker too. Eagerly I read on what he had to say about this record. It kicked off with "German yet fun..." (for scan of sticker see image below).

"What's the deal, why the strange subject line to this posting?", I hear you thinking. Well, Bruno Spörri is SWISS! So not only has Graham managed to probably piss off all fun Germans, but also the entire six million strong Swiss nation! Thanks for nothing messrs Massey & Votel! :-)

So when they tell you Andreas Vollenweider is Austrian & Yello are from Italy, think again. Yes, loads of pioneers come from Switzerland.

Needless to say, I just had to buy this beautiful gatefold record. Small side note: The store I bought it from, was located in... Germany :-) Really!

I can't believe that you've forgot to mention Krokus...! (Heavy-mode: "OFF!")

Admitted, the pic of this cover intrigues me for some odd reason... :D

"Cheap shot" that one!
I remember how they impressed the Hell out of a 12-13 year old Dee,
with their appearance on DR back in '78!

Not only were they actually accomplished musicians, they were more than really entertaining!
Their performance couldn't be described - it had to be seen! :D
