808 live at G-Mex DVD

Postby markus » 20 Feb 2008 17:40

Nick Johnson created a fantastic DVD a while ago of the original Granada TV broadcast (808 State supporting the Happy Mondays). Since this will probably never be commercially available, Nick would be happy to supply fans with copies of the DVD at cost price (he's made a damn fine job of the artwork too). Needless to say this is purely for private use. If you are interested, send Nick a private message.

Is this the one pre-Ex:El? Does it have Darren going hell-for-leather on an Octopad and they only play Quadrastate tracks with Cubik (and maybe Olympic) off Ex:El?

I used to have that on VHS but I lent it to a mate who lost it. I've always wondered whether I'd ever be able to find it again.

DVD

To answer Pobs question it is the live show of Daz going mental on the Octopad. Tracks are:

Cobra Bora (Call The Cops Mix)
The Only Rhyme That Bites
Cubik
Revenge Of The Girlie Men
Pacific 212
Ancodia (Taters Deep Nit Funky Beat Mix) - End Credits

The program is around 25 Mins.

I have some stuff too.

Does anybody know a GOOD guide for transfering VHS to MPEG. Including ways of correcting the error of audio/video sync. And perhaps some cleaning of the image. The sync problem is the biggest hazzle.

VHS Transfer

Postby N.JOHNSON » 25 Feb 2008 13:57

To answer solarex's question, probably the best way to transfer footage from VHS to DVD is with a DVD/Video recorder. That way everything is internal and you rarely have problems with lip sync. Once you have the footage on a dvd disc it is then much easier to transfer to a PC for editing and re-authoring. I had a friend transfer my footage but DVD/Video recorders a quite reasonably priced these days. I find the best programs for editing and re-authoring are AVS DVD author, DVD Shrink and TMPEG.

Hope this Helps

Nick.

This has been put on hold due to possible legal action. Further news to follow.

Nick's postings referring to Optical90 have been edited / removed at the request of ZTT. If you are interested in the Granada part, send NickJ a PM.
