20 Years in a State... on Air.

Postby dj evol eno » 09 Apr 2008 18:21

I'll be hosting the Artists Feature this week on WVFS, Tallahassee (Florida), a show that focuses on the material of a single band/artist.

This week's show is... 808 State!

In celebration of 20 years of 808 State there will be produced, recorded and remixed music spanning the full 20 years by the 808 crew. Released and unreleased material will be heard (including a song or two from their new album, "Quadrastate") and some interview bits will be aired as well. Please tune in and if you have any ideas for requests please get them in early (reply here or email me), I like to try and have as much as possible pre-planned for this type of show.

By all means, please spread the word about this.

Thanks for tuning in.

(p.s. for this forum, I realize the quickly made flyer is not all that original but I only found out I was doing the show a couple days ago and figured I better promote it somehow...i'm not a designer, just a dj.)

Cool! If my calculations are correct, that would make it 03:00-05:00 in the UK and 04:00-06:00 in Central Europe on Monday morning 14 April...
Will the show be made available to download or do we have to rely on the stream (and be wasted on Monday) ? :)

Yeah, i'm on Eastern time here (in the US).

I will be posting the full show on the Club Convergence website. Club Convergence is the name of my electronic radio show I host on WVFS. Check out that site where there are several show recordings and a few of these specialty show recordings as well (I'll be posting a show I helped out with last weekend, the Artist Feature was "Bands from Sheffield"). Usually it takes a day or two for me to post these shows (this week has been especially difficult but both should be up soon).

Thanks for the interest.

I should have it up in a day or two...just hoping this forum doesn't rip me apart. For a two hour show (very short when trying to both play music from their full 20 years AND talk about their history) I think it wasn't so bad. If you'd like I could post the playlist.

WVFS Artist Feature playlist for 20 Years in a State of 808

Postby dj evol eno » 14 Apr 2008 20:29

Except for a couple minor glitches, the show went rather well. Was able to discuss the bands history, interject a few interview tid-bits here and there (from one of my first band interviews back in '93), only had a few call-in requests, no e-mailers and mostly had a great time doing this show...definitely enjoyed listening to the tunes. I'll have it posted in the next day or two. Hope you guys will enjoy this as well...

Thanks.

Found this forum while researching for the show...and NOW I find out Graham is on here with some frequency...suddenly nervous to post show. Hate to find out he doesn't like what i did. Know that it was for the love of the State of 808!

No need to be worried, it was a very good set - double opening salvo of 'Flow Coma' and 'Narcossa' was awesome!

Well Evol, fantastic show, congratulations on the choice of tunes. It's really cool hearing that interview from 1993, with the tape somehow running too slow, giving Graham and Darren deep voices :)
So far I've only gotten as far as Cubik, then the stream gave up :(
I listened to some other of your shows (very nice too) last week and had some problems too with the stream. [error syncing to stream]

Is there any chance of making the show available as a download as opposed to a stream? Or even letting us have it to put it on the 808 site for download? Needless to say with all credits due.

Thanks,

Markus
P.S. Note to all others, to listen to the stream you have to register at the multiply site, but it's painless. :)
