My choice would be;

Flow Coma
Firecracker
Pacific
Cobra Bora
Cubik
Olympic
In Yer Face
Ooops
Plan 9
Nimbus
Bond
Azura
Lopez
Jerusahat
Quincy's Lunch
606
Dissadis
Long Orange

Just omitted : K Narcossa, Ancodia, San Francisco, Southern Cross, Banacheq, Invader and Kong King

So hard to choose, no-one is going to come up with the same selection, good luck choosing Graham!

Here's what I think would be a good representation:

1.Lopez
2.Olympic (flutey)
3.Ancodia 90 mix
4.Cobra Bora (call the cops)
5.Europa
6.Qmart
7.Black Dartagnon/Black Morpheus/Joyrider
8.Orbit/Southern Cross
9.Lemonsoul
10.Kohoutek
11.Bonded
12.IYF Facially Yours
13.Ooops (Mellow Birds)
14.Quincys Lunch
15.Long Orange
16.Invader
17.Balboa
18.Cubic

Any 808 version of cubik (original/Pan Am or 98) - but perhaps best would be a live version (esp 98 version live, it rocks!).

Other live tracks such as IYF/Fuzz Nasty/Invader and Donkey Doctor would be great, esp if not on the bonus CDS.

Global State if not on Bonus, or any other material which nearly made it on the bonuses (inc' unheard material).

I have not listed the 808 remixes as I would imagine they would have problems of rights to the material?

It's not easy narrowing down to 18! No.s 7&8 couldn't make my mind up which ones to choose. Overall tried to give a good mixture of tracks that I think are good (does not take in to account the Newbuild era).

Here's some that nearly made it to my list (possibly swap Kohoutek and qmart for lift and Firecracker?) :

Pacific 909 (Full)
Chopsumwong
Fahijita (Wire or other version)
Spanish Heart
Techno Bell
Freak
Chisler
Minton
Nephatiti
TSTA MC Tunes or tortb
Soundgarden-black hole sun
Yoyo
Kong King
Song for Eurotrash
lift heavy or original
Olympic Eurobass
DYSTD Bassless
Firecracker

its got to have the tracks that get played LIVE that won't be on the re-releases! (1-3)

1 Quincy's Lunch (7" slut smalls version)
2 Long Orange
3 Invader

then add these (as they won't be on the albums)

4 Skin Up Pin Up
5 606
6 Wheatstraw
7 Spanish Marching

then the rest is the best of the album tracks (not looking at single releases as in the 88:98 cd, but gotta include the 3 big hits).

8 Pacific 202
9 Donkey Doctor
10 Cubik
11 Nephatiti
12 In Yer Face
13 Colony
14 Bird
15 Joyrider
16 Black Dartagnon
17 Nimbus
18 The Only Rhyme That Bites (7" version not the one on 88:98)

ok, having nothing to do for half-hour means i've done a tally of the results so far :) unless specified otherwise i've used album mixes or the 12" mix if album mix n/a, or if someone has specified a mix (e.g. TORTB 7" and the others didn't specify I've gone for that mix.. clear? :) 12 of us voted so far.

The fact that we had to choose 18 tracks - does that mean that there is going to be a double promo cd?

Without sounding cheeky will we be able to get copies, perhaps even donate some money to help with the cost?

I also hope that there will be a couple of live tracks on it, to show that 808 can rock.

Good luck with the choices! :)

Ok so the list above is missing 2 tracks. I forgot to include 10x10 and ONE IN TEN. Well i suppose Nimbus could be discarded to make room for 10x10 but i don't think ONE IN TEN is essential because although it was a single it is not a total 808 song in respect that it is a collaboration with UB40 and a remix of a UB40 song. You might argue that MC Tunes is a collaboration too but, Tunes is part of the 808 crew, like a sleeping partner that was given the chance to air his talent for the groups vocal project album The North At It's Heights and marketed as Tunes being the front man on that project.
However I do like Nimbus. And i would want that on this CD. It was more like a double A side with Time Bomb and i class Reaper Repo as the B side track, so it should be given credit as a main singles track just like Cubik/Olympic.
