Hey-hey...!!!
This is the first set, of (hopefully) a string of sets that have the following in common:
1. Each set focusses on a particular netlabel, who's releases have appeared in virtually all CaN-mixes
2. Each netlabel (represented in each mix) is a label, whom I respect for what they do - musically, business-wise etc.
3. Each netlabel has been more than supportive regarding contributing to the CaN-series in contributing, giving feedback etc.
The first netlabel to get mixed is the German netlabel, Thinner - a label which shouldn't need any further introduction, IMO.
But for those of you who aren't in-the-know, based in Frankfurt A.M., Thinner releases electronic music in digital file formats under the Creative Commons license since 1998.
Furthermore, this label has now accumulated more than two million mp3-downloads of their catalog, to date.
Founded by Swedish Thomas Jaldemark, it's daily operations are today run by Sebastian Redenz and Ole Schulte,
supported by an international team that are geographically spread all over the globe.
From beginning to release signature dub-inspired techno/house music (which genre-wise still make their appearances/get released)
that were more-or-less trying to emulate styles/genres (eg. Basic Channel, Maurizio, Substance&Vainquer et al.).
However, over the years, Thinner has managed to evolve as a label and start releasing new sounds and/or interesting hybrids of existing ones.
One of my friends, an established DJ, artist and label-CEO, who has had the opportunity to get a sneak-preview of this mix,
probably sums up Thinner very aptly with this following comment: Music from Thinner is very class...
I couldn't agree more...
