I'M DJ DALLAS SCRATCH AND THIS IS MY FIRST HOUSE MIX IN ABOUT 25yrs...... 1986 MY LAST YEAR IN HIGH SCHOOL, HARD TIMES HIT FOR ME IN DALLAS SO I HAD TO FINNISH SCHOOL IN MY HOMETOWN MEMPHIS, TENN. WHILE I WAS THERE I MET THE VERY YOUNG DJ BY THE NAME OF JUS BORNE AND WE BOTH WERE BIG FANS OF THE NUMBER ONE DJ IN MEMPHIS DJ SONI DEE, WHO WAS FROM CHICAGO AND MIXING HOUSE FROM TIME TO TIME, BUT THE FIRST TIME I HEARD SOME WAS AT JUS BORNE'S HOUSE IT WAS CHIP E'S "LIKE THIS", I HATED IT, BUT WHEN I CAME BACK TO DALLAS I COULDN'T GET THAT SONG OUT OF MY HEAD, SO I WENT BACK TO VISIT AND JUS BORNE GAVE ME A COPY OF THAT SONG.....NOW BACK IN DALLAS JUST MY LUCK I STARTED GETTING PROMOS FROM TRAXX RECORDS OUT OF CHICARGO MR FINGERS "CAN YOU FEEL IT", MARSHALL JEFFERSON "MOVE YOUR BODY' etc. SO NOW I WAS MIXING HOUSE ONLY AT THE HOUSE AND LOVING IT. SO THE NEXT YEAR I WAS A REGULAR MIXER FOR THE NIPPY JONES SHOW ON K104 HERE IN DALLAS, NOW DALLAS AT THE TIME WAS A TOWN ON FUNK AND NOTHING BUT THE FUNK, AND HIP HOP WAS BEGINNING TO SHOW ITS HEAD, NO HOUSE, SO I WANTED TO BE THE FIRST TO MIX IT ON THE AIR AND I DID, AND MADE SOME NOISE WITH THE PEOPLE LIVING IN TOWN FROM THE NORTH, NOT ENOUGH TO BREAK THE DALLAS FORMAT OF FUNK AND NOW HIP HOP. SO NOW OUT OF FRUSTATION WITH NO VENUE TO PLAY HOUSE AT, I GOT RID OF ALL MY HOUSE RECORDS AND FOCUSED ON THE FUNK AND HIP HOP THING AND MADE A NAME FOR MYSELF HERE IN DALLAS, BUT WITH REGRETS OF GETTING RID OF SOME CLASSIC HOUSE RECORDS......SO LONG STORY SHORT I'M BACK INTO MIXING HOUSE, THERE ARE MANY VENUES HERE IN DALLAS WHERE DEEP HOUSE IS HEARD, SO LOOK FOR ME.

Wow! I never knew house was played on a Black station in Dallas. Good info. It was the funk, freestyle, and bass type music. One disappointment I have about Dallas is country electronic dance music never took off. A little country groove should have made its way into the rave scene in Dallas.
