Madchester - Radio 2 - next Wednesday

Postby nickking » 02 Oct 2003 13:49

Taken from BurntBlue -

"Take note fans of baggy, aceeeeiiiid, Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, and all things Madchester… Radio Two are to run a four part series documenting the Mancunian vibe, appropriately titled, ‘Pills, Thrills and Bellyaches’. The show, which is hosted by Stuart Maconie, looks at the history of the Madchester explosion over four programmes, the first of which – next Wednesday - examines the fashion of the period. No doubt they’ll be a few thirty something’s featured, remembering their disastrous baggy flares, smiley face t-shirts and such like. "

Not sure of any 808-references, though...

Hi Nick,

I heard the first in the series - twas good! :)

It was all Madchester and no 808 (808 being nowt to do with 'Madchester' really as has been said before).

Had the likes of Bez, Mani, Shaun Ryder, Inspirals and Peter Hooton speaking on it about various things such as music, flares, gear, etc...

I think you can listen to the show on the Radio 2 web-site :)

There's a short snippet from Graham on this week's programme (round about the 22 minute mark) briefly talking about the Happy Mondays and the Stone Roses.

You can still listen to this week's show (until Wednesday) at and click on the 'Listen Again' button. You can also skip through most of the program in 5 minute intervals as well!
