Tony Panas

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Tony Panas, who, as half of the Johnson/Panas partnership was one of the great Factory Records designers. Tony passed away this week after a period of illness. He is survived by his wife Pam.

Wow that's really very sad. He was a very sensible designer and I always enjoyed any 808 product that had the panas touch to the packaging.

He's certainly one of my top 4 among Farrow, Saville, and the Designer's Republic.

I just seen this thread. Yes this is a truly sad news to hear. I have always loved 808 States covers and Johnson and Panas have been a big influence on me in designing covers for the website. I always credit them on my designs where I have used or been influenced by their work and logos.
I am not familiar too much with Tony's work other than 808 State's sleeve designs but a very gifted graphics designer non the less. He will be missed.

Nick. :(
