Sony MDR-V6 on eBay

Post by newbuild »

A pair I'd purchased direct from Sony was recently robbed from me and I'm looking to replace them, but not for the price Sony sells them, if I don't have to.
I've heard of cheap knock-offs kicking around, and am wondering if anyone might be able to confirm the legitimacy of the pair on this eBay listing:

They are my favourite headphones!
I like how flat they are, sound wise.
Thanks for the response, Nick!

Beware of Sony MDR-V6 on eBay

Post by newbuild »

It turns out that my MDR-7506's were not actually stolen; they were temporarily misplaced.
Although it's too bad that the counterfeit MDR-V6's on eBay were purchased for me by a friend, I'm very happy to have my legitimate MDR-7506's back.

A lesson to be learned: look harder before assuming something is gone forever and don't buy MDR-V6's from Hong Kong on eBay.

I didn't buy them.
My landlord did for me.
He took the chance on them with his money!
I know better than that, which is why the two pairs of MDR-7506's I've owned were purchased direct from Sony.
It's a good thing I found my authentic pair; I found the description of the sound quality in the following link to be quite accurate.
My curiosity hasn't killed me yet!

Risky business buying anything off eBay these days.

I've had a couple of fake headphones from UK sellers too, both Sennheisers. It almost always better to buy from the seller direct or an authorised stockist, but this can be very expensive!

I have however recently taken a risk with a pair of in-ear Sony's for my new Xperia phone (I can't stand walking around with big cans on!) only £25 as an older model but supposed to be great for bass. Not arrived yet as I only purchased them on Wednesday but I'm hoping they will do the business.

Fingers crossed!!!

I gave up on eBay ages ago.
The only things I ever bought were records/CD's.
I prefer discogs.com now.

The price on some Sennheisers can get a bit steep!
sony.com lists MDR-V6's for $109.99, which I feel is a fair deal for a true pair of my favourite affordable headphones.

Best of luck with your Sony's, Mark!
Tarreur!
