Record Store Day 2019: 808 State - "Four States of 808" - 4LP box

Presumably this is the four ZTT albums?

Is that all that this is? I was hoping that it was a 4LP of unreleased material, or at least something new. Having said this, the FGTH box of 12"s for last year's RSD was completely uninspired and overpriced.

There seems to be a corresponding 4LP of The Art Of Noise. I don't know what's in it.

It's here already, 28 February. And it isn't a reissue of the albums. Some exclusive stuff, apparently:

Shorn of all the Ian Peel guff, here's what the 808 set amounts to:

Four States of 808
4 x 12"
27 tracks / 3 tracks previously unreleased / 3 new to vinyl

1
Pacific (303)
Pacific (B)
Magical Dream (Instrumental)
State to State
80808080808
Ancodiacobrabora

2
Cübik (State to Pan Am Mix)
In Yer Face
Nimbus
Cobra Bora (Call the Cops)
Nephatiti
Jerusahat

3
Spanish Heart
Ooops (Utsula Head Mix)
Dance Yourself to Death (Dust Brothers Mix)
Moses (7" Remix)
Azura (Radio Edit)
Contrique

4
Sunrise
Plan 9 (Guitars on Fire Mix)
Black Morpheus
Olympic (Euro Bass Gate Mix)
Lopez (Brian Eno 7" Mix)

I'm assuming that the 3 unreleased tracks are:
Ancodiacobrabora
Moses (7" Remix)
Olympic (Euro Bass Gate Mix)
– is that right?

Moses was released as a promo CD.
Could be this: Cübik (State to Pan Am Mix) ?
Still, hard to believe there's unreleased stuff, as the band weren't asked for input into this project. Unless ZTT found lost stuff...

Sorry – right you are. I'd never seen that before. Is it much different to the album version?

That's already on CD2 of the Ex:el remastered CD.

I'm guessing that "Ancodiacobrabora" is some kind of medley, or perhaps a lame segue between the two tracks.

I'm guessing the "unreleased" stuff relates to the promo-only mixes as well?

Certainly, ancodiacobrabora sounds as though it could be exclusive (certainly never heard of that one before)?

Olympic Euro Bassgate Mix - I'm assuming this is going to be different to Olympic Euro Bass Mix, but it could be mislabelled?

As for promos, there's:
- Moses 7" Remix [only available on the US Promo CD Single/CDR]
- Lopez (Brian Eno 7" Mix) [promo-only edit of the Metaphorically mix]

I suppose (at a pinch) you could say that the Dust Brothers Mix of Dance Yourself To Death is unreleased in the UK?

Apart from that, I'm struggling! :p

Having said that, this appeared on Blueprint, didn't it? I'll have to check! :P

The Dust Brothers Mix should be on the updated North at it's Heights album.

The Eno 7" of Lopez is indeed on Blueprint.

I can see only two unreleased things on here so far, but having said this, Ian Peel (who has compiled this, and, as usual, hasn't done it in any way I'd have liked) has previously given standard names to previously unreleased mixes, eg. the slightly different mix of "Kill the pain" on Frankie said.

I don't think that the "bass gate" thing is a misprint; I think it'll be a variant of the Euro bass mix.

By the way, it's very nice to see Markus, NickKing and Ancodia still online for 808 after all these years. You lot are hardcore die-hards and keepers of the flame. 8)
