Wow...I've not been here in years !
Hello 808ers.. Probably most of you won't even remember me. Markus might. There are a few of my fan mixes on the sounds page from a number of years ago. I also did the 'Sonic Noodle Soup' zine with a Martin Price interview. I also managed to snag an interview with the most bizarre Rik Davis (formerl...

Pacific 909 on Tommy Boy...!!!
Ok, so I've not been here in a long while and posted, but when I checked out that the Tommy Boy Pacific single (with 909) went for so much on ebay...I got to thinking about my own copy on CD and how I got it for $1 US at Amoeba records in San Francisco some years ago in a bargain bin. I can't believ...

Just had a quick gander at 606 in my audio editor. Seems that they've pushed it to just below the 0db limit without digital clipping. A good thing. Otherwise we'd get split second bursts of digital noise that sound harsh. Never a good thing for the ears. However, it is compressed hard. Still, better...

I use a heap of soft synths myself and while some of them are a bit narky on the sound reproduction, I am of the opinion that anything can be a relevant sound source for use in music. Modern mastering processes, for example, in the pop arena focus far too much on over compression and heavy finalisat...

My remix of Pacific State
Hey there everyone. Been a long while since I've posted, but finally got to finish my own remix/re interpretation of Pacific State. It's more like an inspired track than an out and out remix. It is very long...10:06...and old school style. Should anyone wish to have a listen you can find it at the b...

Artists do not owe their fans anything. Creative personalities simply 'create' as they feel fit. The problems begin when art is sold to the highest bidder. That's when it loses integrity. One of the reasons I like 808 is because they seem to have always done their own thing regardless of what others...
