Stakker Humanoid remixes by Graham Massey

Post by markus »

Graham has remixed the classic 1988 tune Stakker Humanoid! Not sure yet if this will be a physical release (I hope!) or download-only. Also Graham did two mixes, unclear if both will be released or just one. Others that have been doing mixes include Hot Chip and Scan X. More info when I get it.

Of course Graham previously worked with FSOL, on the remix of Papua New Guinea in 1992.

Indeed - a classic, which even had at the time a cutting-edge vid, to boot!

I remember reading back in '01, when the Plump DJ's made their 2001 Re-Touch of Stakker Humanoid
that there wasn't any (available) multi-tracks of this tune!
In other words, the Plump DJ's had to sort of speak rebuild the whole track
'round a couple of samples from the original; 'wonder, if Graham had to do the same thing?

In any event, I hope this re-rub is going to get a proper release of some kind - this I GOT to hear! :D

Damn right, this is one of those dream remix projects, like when Autechre did Unique 3's 'The Theme' recently. The fact that Hot Chip (who command quite a decent following in the more mainstream indie crowd, where all my mates are at) are working on it makes me feel this is very likely to appear on physical formats.

Either way, can't wait!! :D

Briefly going off topic: check out our very own Don Dee3's mix of The theme too at http://www.myspace.com/dee3dk :-)

Graham thinks there is a possibility of physical release(s), as there is artwork involved, but this is totally unconfirmed at this time.

Scan X, who have also just remixed Stakker, "state" on their MySpazz-player
that Jumpin' & Pumpin' are releasing Scan X' remix this coming October;
this might give us something to go by...

Errr, "...find" and "...find" - Scan X PM'ed me on MySpazz (probably also to a quadzillion of their MySpace-friends)
That could be the reason why the player isn't working, Markus

"MySpazz", indeed...!

But their remix is quite good, actually (based on the e-x-c-e-r-p-t on their player - cheap bastards!)

So with G.'s (probably ACE) remix and along with the other remixes rumored , this might look like one serious package!
