Regarding SkiFamily91's comments about Newbuild on the previous page, and Nick's repsonse to them. With the material from "Ninety" onwards, I think 808 have been equal parts a dance act and a pop one. Something like "In yer face" is a chart hit as well as a dancefloor stomper. "Newbuild" is a dance album, completely removed from the pop world. I like the tracks on "Newbuild" – especially "Narcossa" – but I agree that it's heavy going as a whole album.

I like most of their stuff, but I agree with the general consensus that the Gorgeous era was when they were making a lot of their most forgettable stuff in conjunction with all the really good tracks like Plan9 and Nimbus and things. Personally, I think Sexy Dancer and Sexy Synthesizer are profoundly mediocre, which is a shame because the rest of Gorgeous is actually pretty doggone good.
You gotta appreciate Marathon and Bombadin. Not their best at all, and not particularly memorable singles either, but so bouncy and fun!
