Tangerine Dream
Moderators: Ancodia, markus, Pob, nickking
my favourite(and im no expert) is Rubicon (and early 70s one) Pheadras
good as well from same time..I went to see them on the Rubicon tour at a place called the Hardrock in Mcr ,its now my local B&Q. I sometimes wonder if it had a larger influence on me ...3 guys with keyboards.
The synths and melotrons etc were very mysterious things back then.and its then that a took more of an interest in any thing with them in.
I remember they had a heavy advertising campaign on Piccadilly Radio
for rubicon as it was some of the earliest stuff on Virgin after Tubular Bells
they were really pushing it on the mainsteam. it worked on me. lovely cover as well.

STRATOSFEAR AND ROMANCE 76
i have only stratosfear and peter baumann's romance 76
i have heard other earlier ones, but i like how the mixture of melotrons and guitar strumming blends ie: the sequence which starts off stratosfear...also the breakdowns (on each lp) when the sound becomes very warm and with a piano forming a very nice groove which becomes a portal for the next movement...
these albums share similar themes-i think they were recorded and released simultaneously...i like the rhythm computer on 'phase by phase'. it sounded different than most other tekno i have heard from that era...some others sounded kinda lika metronome, while peter baumann would let pulse loose:
philharmonic orchestra
rhythm computer
custom built synthesiser
mellotron
piano
bass
bells
laughing...
recorded in 1976:
cluster-sowiesoso
tangerine dream-statosfear
peter baumann-romance 76
michael rother-flammende herzen
brian eno-music for films
harmonia 76
david bowie-low

i have a dream, in it is a tangerine...
recently i have been kicking around the idea of selling/getting rid of all the music i own that was made/released before i was born...16.15 thursday 25' march 1982...as i have never viewed myself as a collector-i simply like to have music i love on vinyl...i think it is an obsession, one that often leaves me flat broke...which is why i will sell off all of my tangerine dream/peter baumann/eno/cluster/talking heads, usw (50 in total)...i guess my modified collection would start proper with the new order factus 8 american 12" ep (1981-1982) including the tracks: everything's gone green-procession-cries and whispers-temptation-hurt...it's no wonder this 12" made its way back to the u.k. and australia (which my copy is from) ist sehr supoiwb!!! no???
