Pacific 2003mix

Post by SteveC »

The last Pacific mix was officially the 808:98 version. 5 years on and with 808 now performing a new version, do you think its time another official mix was released and what are the possibilities of it happening ?

i'd re-release it as an 808:90 classics ep remixed for the 21st century!

a side PACIFIC (new live version),
b side COBRA BORA (new live version) &
bb side DONKEY DOCTOR (new live version)

anyone else agree???

i'd also like a LIVE album released (not all in one set - maybe compiled over the years)?

Live Album

Post by Ancodia »

Oh yes, I think its about time that we seen a live album from 808, maybe even as a bonus disc on some future release. :P

Not sure about releasing more re-hashed Pacific mixes, but perhaps a new version as part of a new EP?

A live CD would be fantastic, I would gladly pay if 808 could somehow record a live up to date performance, maybe this could happen as an exclusive to the Globalstate members?

Is there any possibilty of this or some live material becoming available, I do have a couple of copies of 808 live including a great 1993 Goregous tour disc, but a recent performance would be fantastic to have.

What about some remixes from Forecast like "Lemons" , or Purple Dust...

The Chisler would be nice too.

ah think so an'all

Lemon is on the Gorgoeus cd Mark is on about, I like that live set, it is top man!

I would like to hear a live cd of the Quadrastate/90 era just cos ah walk the dinsoaur and am too auld fashioned for ma ain good.....and of course it's about time 808 released a live album from one of their better sets which they done recently, is it difficult to release that sort of material? Even if they only sold it to us die hards they would still make enough money for a couple o pies and a pint o Boddingtons :)

pacific album

Post by N.JOHNSON »

I think that it would be cool for 808 to release an album of every pacific mix they have ever done that has been recorded. The tracks should be listed in order. For example: Pacific state- origin, Pacific 0101, 202, 212 etc....

Any body remember The Shamen Progeny? A remix album of their flagship track Move Any Mountain. I am also a big Shamen fan just as much as i love 808 and i have always dreamed they would do something like that for Pacific. I could do it myself on CD-R but its's not the same. Plus there are probably even versions of Pacific that have not seen the light of day. I want to hear them. More, more!!

Pacificy

I don't think that would work, I have the Progeny album and at least ten other copies of Progen/Move Any Mountain (UK, UK Re-release, US, Jap etc) and I still only listen to two versions. The original and a Tomka Remix from 1996 There is too much of a good thing you know!

I believe Massey once said they had about thirty version of Pacific including their remixed live versions etc and how he thought about putting polo mints between his fingers, so that he doesn't fall into the same old chords. The thirty may have been an bit of an exaggeration though.

Have to agree with John, Progeny album is cool, but you never sit down and listen to the whole thing - you'd go mental.

I prefer new or unreleased stuff being released, there's a limit to the re-hashing / remixing in my oppinion.

It would be good to hear the live versions. I've heard the '96-'01 live version as well as the current one and would like to hear any earlier ones, especially the one played in Ibiza '90 and at Gmex in '91. I've only heard the 30 seconds played at the end of Optical and during the Gmex feature on Optibuk and want to hear the whole tune. :D

It sounds like it but arranged differently. The chanting is there anyway.

pacific 303?

Post by N.JOHNSON »

It's probably Pacific 212. Is that the same version as the live set when 808 supported The Happy Mondays? Martin Price says at the begining " Re-make, remodelled of the big one. Thankyou Gerald! " at that gig and there is definitly chanting at the begining. The 303 version has the chanting later on through the track not at the start.

Pacific

Post by Franco »

No, is this not the 909 mix released in the US as a 12" with "Bonus Bird Beats" on the other side. The one at the end of optical:90 is definetely not 212, it has some scratching and stuff on it and is on the Utd State 90 album with Pacific 718 and 202.

(I think!!!)

Bye,
