What an acheivement, how many bands, let alone dance acts, have lasted as long.
......and what a journey it has been for those of us who first heard of this band with the chimes of Pacific. Did we ever think that 14 years later we would still get the same adrenalin rush of hearing new material and live performances.
So what month was Newbuild released, is the 15 year accolade due or past ? and what of plans to celebrate the event, maybe an online competition.
Whatever happens, thanks 808 for everything. From discovering the power that music can have on you emotionally, the hobby of collecting your material, the compulsive radio shows, the journeys of seeing you live, to communicating with likewise people on an interactive forum.
What a journey, what a band
Thanks once again

I believe that Newbuild was released in July 1988, so not long now to 808's 15 years of releases. This is a fantastic achievement and Steve's spot on, there are not many bands who can boast this feat, let alone electronic artists.
Congratulations to the lads, and to Graham who can trace his career back to the early 80's if not even before. 808 have certainly outlasted many bands who have come and gone, and many of my mates always say dance music is full of one hit wonders and no marks. Then I remind them of 808, fair enough they are'nt the household name they maybe once were, but they are still going strong and producing some of the best stuff they have ever done. The industry must give them some respect, as dance music pioneers they have laid the foundations for many electronic acts that have followed and lets face it not many acts can say they have done that. Even the shite tracks piss all over some other stuff thats around.
Roll on the next 15 years!!! It will be a sad day when the music world hears the last 808 track, but I reckon there's plenty of life left in the old dogs yet!!!!
RESPECT to 808, the original and still the best.

Here here
I was 15 when I first heard Pacific.
I and 808 have grown up together and 808 have been the soundtrack for my life continually for over a decade-wherever I have travelled.
Some day I will re-enact the Lopez video I swear.
Still think and feel that Disaddis,Yoyo and 606 are some of 808's best tracks.

15 year anniversary ideas
In my opinion, there should be a concert to celebrate 15 years of 808.
And maybe a best tunes of all time selected by the band themselves with personal memories and anecdotes on the sleeve?
What do fellow brothers and sisters in 808 think?
Peace and positive vibes,
Dr.Walsh

15 years of 808 - ideas for celebration...
Hi Ski Family,
I meant a 'Best Of' 808 - their own tunes selected by the band (sort of a more personal updated 808:88:98), with personal reflections and stories from everyone who's been involved with the band since the start ie Graham, Gerald, Martin, Andy and Darren, etc, plus maybe a few anecdotes from tour friends (ie New Order, The Orb, etc) and collaborators (ie Bjork, Louise Lamb, Rolf Harris, etc).
Ideally there could be a DVD, and a 'Back To Mine' would be brilliant aswell. Then 808 the movie! What a package that would be!
Let's all visualise it now and make it real!

The DVD idea is a good one - would make an interesting story!
As for Gerald and Martin being involved - why not? As we´ve seen, Newbuild has been reissued with the blessing of all members, and Prebuild will be arriving at some point this year - again with the blessing of members old and new...
Something for the future?
l8rs,
Nick

soz guys...haven't got round to posting for a while...
What would be really special is a comemerative track/ep from the old 'Triumvirate' of Graham, Martin and Gerald! Stranger things have happened...and magine the music press salivating over that!!!! There's a void in the 'big name' live dance market now Leftfield have split, and Orbital etc all seem to be on the back-heel with indifferent new material.
Am I dreamin or wot? Would be f***in cool tho.
